Assistance is provided to residential landlords and tenants prior to entering into lease agreements such that the client, whether a landlord or a tenant, has an understanding of the Truth in Renting Act, the Security Deposit Act along with the rights and responsibilities in relationship to a written lease between the parties. If the landlord and/or tenant understands their rights and responsibilities at the time they enter into a lease, many landlord/tenant conflicts can be avoided. Our office gives assistance to landlords and tenants in negotiating leases, whether it be residential or commercial.
If landlord/tenant disputes exist, the attorneys that are experienced in landlord/tenant matters in this office will represent either the landlord or tenant in litigation. The attorneys in our office have experience in general civil litigation relating to landlord/
tenant matters, both commercial and residential, including rendering assistance to landlords and real estate owners to obtain possession of their property by way of the Michigan Summary Proceedings process.
