The term general civil litigation broadly encompasses a wide spectrum of disputes that end up in the courtroom. These kinds of cases typically play out in the District Court, in front of magistrates and sometimes even the Court of Appeals and higher courts.
The kinds of cases that are typically handled in these forums include business disputes, contract/collection disputes, creditor claims against estates and trusts, landlord/tenant disputes, boundary line disputes, arguments over title and easements pertaining to real estates, personal injury litigation, family court matters including divorce and custody disputes, and disputes between employers and employees. This list is only illustrative, and many more types of disputes find their way ultimately into the general court system.
The firm regularly handles all of these matters. On most days when the courts are open, at least one member of the firm will be appearing in one of the local courts dealing with ongoing matters.
Trial work requires proper foundation, research and thorough preparation. While no lawyer can guarantee a result, skillful preparation and presentation greatly enhance a client’s likelihood of success.
